About this event

Sound Meditation is an immersive meditative experience where participants are bathed in sound waves. The frequencies from the alchemy singing bowls can facilitate shifts in brain states from a more active state to a relaxed or even dreamlike state. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated, allowing the body to rest. The experience evokes a sense of deep listening, first to the bowls, and then to the landscape of our hearts (where wisdom resides). With some gentle guidance and a sacred container of safety, release and restoration can occur, leaving a sense of calm and invigoration. After we connect with our own hearts, we connect with the other hearts in the room because community is part of the healing too. Those that have attended Lyn's sessions have reported a reduction in pain, restorative sleep, emotional release, seeing visions, seeing colours, a sense of connectedness and invigoration. The healing benefits of this practice reverberate long after the session ends.
In the art component of this event, we will be working with dried ivy cordage, and will be having our own individual “conversations” with this material to create a unique and resonant artwork to take home. You will also receive instructions for how to work with Ivy so you can continue your exploration and share it with your community.
Ivy is an invasive plant here in the lower mainland, yet it has magical properties based in cultivating resilience, and manifesting your intentions. We can work with this plant that has been removed from spaces it has overtaken to honour it for the energetic gifts it brings while also supporting the healing of the lands it was pulled from.
This specific process is inspired by Kaitlyn's art project “Conversations with Ivy” and is intended to be an introductory, explorative approach to creating with Ivy. You will have time to play with it yourself and also ask questions/ receive guidance for how you can work with this plant.

Meet your guides:
Lyn Sakari became certified as a meditation teacher in 2017 through Moment Meditation after two decades of a personal practice. Her passion for making mindful and meditation practices accessible to the collective in a safe and supportive environment led her to create 'Sit With Sakari' whose mission is to build community while awakening the individual. A lifelong student- Lyn is also certified in and continously studying: MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), Reiki (Holy Fire lineage), Kirtan (Bhakti Yoga), sound healing and is a Sound Ceremonialist, certified as a sound bath musician. She came to the intersection of these modalities as part of her own journey of awakening. Included in her sound scape journey are Crystal Tones alchemy bowls which are infused with gemstones and precious metals, thoughtfully selected because of their integrity and resonance. Lyn's set is one of a kind and appropriately named 'Unity Consciousness.'

@lynsakari
Kaitlyn Beugh: I am an interdisciplinary artist, reiki practitioner, and community herbalist. My overarching art practice is interwoven between these modalities. My focus is based in mindfulness and fostering a deeply rooted connection to nature. My aim is to inspire others to connect deeper with nature in their own ways, be it through a creative process or simply by sitting with nature and paying attention to the nuances of the life that surrounds them.
I hold a bachelors degree in fine arts with a minor in social practice and community engagement from Emily Carr University, have a certificate in herbalogy through Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, and am attuned to Usui reiki & holy fire III reiki through Carrie Bailey and Myorei Zeraffa. I am a member of the Canada Reiki Association and am dedicated to sharing this modality with integrity.
I’ve always been drawn to cultivating strong community connections and strive to do so creatively through the modalities I use.
Like nature itself, my work is ever-evolving.
Let’s stay connected:
